2. WAIVER UNDER FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT (FERPA)

   We will be using the Computer Science Course Management System (CMS) to provide
   private access to student grades. In some occasions we may need to communicate
   grade information directly to you without using CMS. To do so, we need your
   permission, which you grant to us by signing the following waiver.

   Waiver: I consent to the use of my Student ID number for the purpose of 
   communication for CS211, thereby waiving my rights in this regard under the
   Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. I consent to allowing 
   the course staff to send the grading comments and results of the coursework
   via e-mail using the net-ID specified in my homework submissions. 

   I understand that such consent is not required by the university, and I 
   affirm that it is in all respects freely and voluntarily given. I understand 
   that this waiver will be retained by the instructor in charge of the course 
   until the beginning of the following semester.
